Product Description The German swimming car type 166 (item number 35224, scale 1:35, with narrow tyres) has been a best seller since 1998. TAMIYA now presents a swimming car kit with wide tyres, additional equipment such as the MG34 machine gun and two new figures. The European geography crossed by rivers and marked by wetlands presented the Wehrmacht with great military challenges and prompted them to develop the swimming car, an amphibious vehicle based on the bucket car designed by Ferdinand Porsche. With a 4-cylinder petrol engine with 25 hp, the swimming car reached a top speed of 80 km/h on land. The three-blade rear propeller has been manually lowered over a pole and allowed speeds of up to 10 km/h in the water. Due to material shortages, many swimmers were equipped with 133mm tyres, while the wider 200mm tyres offered significantly better off-road capability.
